When you think of camping do you think of being knee deep in mountain river fly fishing?  Or do you think of sitting around a campfire in the plains singing camp songs?  Perhaps you picture camping as pulling up to a spectacular ocean view in your motor home while cooking your own dinner.  Camping can come in such a wide variety of formats and attracts people of all ages and backgrounds.  Therefore, camping is an activity that nearly everyone can enjoy.

A popular activity is to spend a week camping in a state park or forest.  Families hike into the woods and pitch a tent.  They cook their meals over a fire pit stove.  They roast marshmallows and take hikes through the bountiful forest.  Honeymooners have even found this type of camping trip to suit their preferences and budgets.

Other campers seek more creature comforts and opt for a pop-up tent camper.  They can drive through the state park and forest to a campsite they find appealing.  During the day they can experience the vast landscape through hiking and mountain climbing.

Then at the end of a full day they can return to their tent camper.

Many families and older campers prefer to skip the tent and opt for a RV.  A RV such as a motor home is a great way to spend time in the great outdoors, but not give up your own bathroom, kitchen, and other amenities.  Plus, motor homes allow you to travel farther distances and see more of the state or country.  Seeing the country this way can make you stop and smell the roses.  You can drive on back country roads if you prefer and check out the cozy small towns that you might never have seen otherwise.

In addition, you are on your own time schedule.  You don't have to catch the next plane or be at the airport two hours earlier.  This allows flexibility so you can modify your camping travel plans if need be.

Older campers often spend weeks at a time traveling the country in their RV.  Some families prefer to home school their children and camp around the country in their RV all year long.

On the other hand, you may be a weekend camper.  You pack up your camping gear and head with your buddies for a weekend of hiking, fishing, and kayaking.  Camping is an affordable option so this type of camping is especially beneficial for city dwellers.  City dwellers sometimes feel stifled by the city and need to head out to the country for a weekend for some fresh air.

Tents, pop-up tent campers, and RVs are not just for camping.  You can also use these items when you travel to and attend sporting events and concerts.  Bode Miller, an Olympic downhill skier, travels the country in his motor home.  He is camping all year long.  Having his own motor home allows him to feel like he has a "home" even though he travels nearly every week to various parts of the country and world.  Plus, have you ever tried to take downhill ski equipment on an airplane?  It is difficult!

Camping is a fun activity that will satisfy just about anyone of any age.  Camping can be basic with a tent or luxurious with a motor home.  Which ever camping style you choose is up to you.  Many campers have tried several different forms of camping before they figured out which camping style is best for them.
