Floating candles can make a classy addition to any event. They look great as a centerpiece or artfully arranged to set the mood in a room, managing to set off just the right amount of smell and light. And they never go out of style as an elegant hostess gift. The best part is that it is super easy to make your own with a mold you already have in your home. Check out our simple steps to creating yourself some beautiful fun.
What will you need: Wax Wick Fragrance or dye if desired Mold- We used a mini-muffin pan, but the key here is that the top of the mold has to be larger than the bottom. Also you want something that is bigger around than it is tall, so that the candle will float well. - Prepare you wax as you would normally do. While it is melting, prep your “mold” for the wax, get your wicks ready, and set up a nice flat surface for drying.
- Making sure that the mold is level (if your wax cools at an angle, the candles will not float well) and pour your candles.
- Let the wax cool in the molds until you can see a slight film forming across the top.
- Stick one wick into the center of each candle and arrange so that it stands upright. You need to time this right as if your wax is too hot, the wick will fall to the side. Too cold and it won’t go through to the bottom.
- Allow time to cool thoroughly.
